얼마 전, 저희 아이와 함께 한글샘 무료 체험단에 선정되었어요! 한국어 교육을 어떻게 시작해야 할지 고민이 많았는데 첫째는 집중력이 짧아서 오래 앉아 있는 걸 어려워해요. 
반면 둘째는 한글 자체가 처음이라 새롭고 신기한 눈으로 교재를 바라보더라고요.
Recently, my children and I were selected for the HangeulSaem free trial program! I’ve always been unsure about how to begin Korean education for them—our older child has a short attention span and finds it hard to sit still for long, while our younger one looked at the books with curiosity, since it’s his very first time learning Korean.

Since we live in the U.S., Korean exposure is very limited, and I’ve often worried about how my kids would learn Hangul. I tried teaching them at home, but it was difficult to stay consistent and hard to find the right materials. Because my eldest already attended one full semester at HangeulSaem, I knew how great the program was—so we signed up for the free trial right away! What stood out to me was that it’s not just about memorizing letters, but about learning through play, at the child’s level, which I found very appealing.
 

한글샘 교재

교재는 색감이 밝고 알록달록해서 아이가 책을 받자마자 환하게 웃더라고요. 글자와 그림이 함께 있어서 직관적으로 이해하기 쉬웠고, 활동지가 게임처럼 구성되어 있어 아이가 흥미를 느끼기에 충분했습니다. 수업 분위기도 따뜻했어요. 아이들이 즐겁게 참여할 수 있도록 선생님이 계속 격려해 주시고, 질문이 있을 때는 차분히 설명해 주셔서 “아, 이건 단순히 공부가 아니라 놀이 시간이구나!”라는 인상을 받았습니다.
The learning materials were bright and colorful, and the kids smiled as soon as they received them. The combination of letters and illustrations made it easy to understand, and the activity sheets were designed like games, which kept them engaged. The classroom atmosphere was also warm and encouraging.
The teacher made sure every child could participate happily, always offering gentle guidance and encouragement. It gave me the impression that this was not just study time, but playtime disguised as learning.

첫째는 솔직히 처음엔 “집중할 수 있을까?” 걱정했는데, 첫째 둘째 둘 다 교재를 펴자마자 눈이 반짝! 특히 그림과 함께 글자를 배우는 활동을 정말 즐겁게 따라 했습니다.
수업이 끝나고 나서도 “엄마, 또 하고 싶어!”라고 말할 정도로 만족도가 높았어요.
To be honest, I was worried at first—especially about whether my eldest could stay focused.
But as soon as both kids opened the books, their eyes lit up ✨. They especially enjoyed the activities where they learned letters alongside pictures. At the end of class, both of them said, “Mom, I want to do it again!” 🥰 Their excitement was the biggest sign to me that the lesson was a success.
 
아직은 시작 단계지만, 이번 한글샘 수업을 통해 아이가 한글을 조금 더 자연스럽고 재미있게 받아들일 수 있겠다는 확신이 들었어요. 앞으로 매주 어떤 변화가 있을지 너무 기대됩니다.
It’s still just the beginning, but I feel confident that through HangeulSaem, my kids will start to embrace Hangul more naturally and with joy. I’m excited to see what changes will come week by week.
