[Review] Enjoying Korean with My Child 💛

Spending time learning Korean with my child used to feel more like a chore than a joy. I was always wondering where to start, how much to teach, and whether I was doing it right. That all changed when we joined the HangeulSaem trial program. Through this experience, I realized that learning Hangul doesn’t have to feel like studying — it can be something you truly enjoy together.

 

아이와 함께 한글을 배우는 시간은 늘 숙제처럼 느껴졌어요. 어떻게 시작해야 할지, 어디까지 알려줘야 할지 고민도 많았고요. 그러다 이번에 한글샘 체험단에 참여하게 되면서, 한글이 ‘공부’가 아니라 아이와 함께 즐기는 시간이 될 수 있다는 걸 처음으로 느꼈습니다.

 

 

Learning Korean Through Play 놀이처럼 시작하는 한글 시간

Before class, my child asked, “Is this Korean study?” But the moment we opened the workbook, the reaction completely changed. The bright colors, coloring pages, and line-tracing activities immediately caught my child’s attention. Instead of feeling pressured, Korean felt like playtime. My child especially loved combining letters like a puzzle, saying, “Is this right?” while figuring things out independently. Watching that curiosity unfold was such a joy.

 

수업을 시작하기 전, 아이는 “한글 공부야?” 하고 물었어요. 그런데 교재를 펼치자마자 반응이 완전히 달라졌습니다. 색칠하기, 선 따라 그리기 같은 활동 덕분에 아이에게 한글은 부담이 아니라 놀이처럼 다가왔어요. 특히 글자를 퍼즐처럼 조합해보는 활동을 정말 좋아했는데, “이거 맞지?” 하며 스스로 생각하고 맞춰보는 모습이 인상 깊었습니다.

 

 

 

Learning Hangul Naturally 자연스럽게 익히는 한글

HangeulSaem’s lessons aren’t about memorizing letters. They’re designed for kids to see, touch, write, and experience Hangul naturally. The workbook carefully guides children through proper stroke order and provides plenty of space for repetition and practice. What I appreciated most was the encouraging atmosphere —mistakes were okay, and learning felt safe and comfortable.

한글샘 수업은 글자를 외우게 하기보다, 보고–만지고–써보면서 자연스럽게 익히도록 구성되어 있었어요.
글자 쓰는 순서도 차근차근 알려주고, 단어를 여러 번 써볼 수 있는 공간도 충분해서 아이 스스로 연습해 볼 수 있었습니다.

무엇보다 좋았던 건, “틀려도 괜찮아”라는 분위기 속에서 아이가 편안하게 한글을 접할 수 있었다는 점이에요.

 

 

More Fun Because We Learn Together 아이와 함께라서 더 즐거운 시간

The biggest change wasn’t just in my child — it was in me. Instead of feeling the pressure to “teach,”
I now sit next to my child, enjoying the process together. When my child said, “Korean was fun today!” after class, I knew this experience was truly meaningful 😊

체험단에 참여하면서 느낀 가장 큰 변화는 아이뿐 아니라 저 역시 한글 시간이 즐거워졌다는 것이에요. 예전에는 가르쳐야 한다는 부담이 컸다면, 지금은 아이와 나란히 앉아 함께 웃으며 책을 펼칩니다. 수업이 끝난 뒤 아이가 “오늘 한글 재밌었어!”라고 말해줬을 때,
이 선택이 정말 잘한 선택이었구나 싶었어요 😊
